Situated in the north-western part of the India, Rajasthan is the largest
state of the India union. The state is largely a arid region, Rajasthan is
bound in the west by part of the Indo-Pak international boundary. The State
is surrounded by Punjab and Haryana states in the north, Uttar Pradesh in
the east, Madhya Pradesh in the southeast and Gujarat in the southwest
The Rajasthan Southern part is about 225 km from the Gulf of Kutch and
about 400 km from the Arabian Sea. Pakistan bounds the state from west and
north-west. The Aravali ranges seggregrate the State through south-east and
north-west. The north-west region of Rajasthan that covers two-thirds of the
state consist mostly of a series of sand dunes. Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur
and part of the Jhunjhunu districts form part of this region.

Climate of the State:
The climate of Rajasthan seems to vary from semi arid to arid. The mercury
rises 49 degrees centigrade at some places during summer and drops below
Zero degree point during winter.
