Main Attractions
Lal Bagh Gardens - The city of Bangalore has
innumerable eye candies for the tourists. One of them is Lalbagh Gardens. It
is located to the south of the city. It is spread in an area of 240 acre.
The gardens hold the largest collection of rare tropical and sub tropical
plants as well as many centuries old trees. Theses gardens were laid by
Hyder Ali of Mysore in 1760. The Glass House is one of the most popular
spots of Bangalore where every year in the month of August a flower show is
organised.
Tipu's
Palace - This palace was first constructed by Hyder Ali and was later
completed by his son Tipu Sultan in 1791. It was then, Tipu Sultan's summer
retreat. Today the palace houses a museum that displays artifacts relating
to the Hyder-Tipu regime.
Venkatappa Art Gallery - This is the country's
oldest museum and houses several antiques and archaeological objects.
Cubbon Park - This park was laid out by Lieutenant
General Sir Mark Cubbon in 1864. The park is spread in an area of 250 acres
and also hosts a children's amusement park, a doll museum and a toy train
for children.
Bangalore Palace - This palace was built in 1887 by
the Wodeyar dynasty. The wood carving is excellent here. The entire
structure is built in Tudor-style architecture.
Vidhana Soudha - Bangalore's best-known landmark,
the Vidhana Soudha houses the Legislative Chambers of the State Government.
This 46-metre high edifice was built almost entirely of granite and is a
masterpiece of temple architecture.
